Older Bangalow houses are largely hardwood framed with lath, VJ boards or single skin walls. Modern plasterboard anchors are useless in them and hardwood splits if it is not pre drilled, so fixings here are chosen by hand rather than by habit.
Timber floors are the other local constant. Everything comes in on protection, tools stay off the boards and we vacuum before we leave.
